🔄Withdrawals restore your room. If you withdraw from your TFSA, that amount is added back to your contribution room on January 1 of the following year — not immediately.
📅Annual limit update. The CRA announces the new TFSA dollar limit each November for the following year, indexed to inflation in $500 increments. The 2026 limit is confirmed at $7,000 — the third consecutive year at this amount. Check CRA.gc.ca → each November for future years.
📋Multiple TFSA accounts? Your room is shared across all TFSA accounts you hold at any institution. CRA tracks your total contributions on My CRA Account →
⚠️Non-residents beware. If you are a non-resident of Canada, you cannot contribute to your TFSA. A 1% per month tax applies on any contributions made while non-resident.

📅2026 contribution deadline: March 2, 2027. Contributions made by this date count toward your 2026 tax deduction. After this date, contributions apply to your 2027 tax return.
♾️Unused room carries forward indefinitely. You don't lose RRSP room by not contributing — it accumulates year after year until you convert to a RRIF at age 71.
💼Workplace pension? Check your T4 Box 52. If you have a defined benefit or defined contribution pension, a pension adjustment (PA) reduces your RRSP room. This calculator assumes no pension adjustment.
🎯FHSA room is separate. If you're saving for a first home, the First Home Savings Account (FHSA) gives you an additional $8,000/year (up to $40,000 lifetime) and is not counted here.
💰Know your room — now plan your contributions. Use the Conscious Spending Plan → to see exactly how much to invest each month based on your take-home pay.
